December 12th No NEW ENEMIES XMas is having Show at the Mr. Ego ... the party will take place at their shop and out back. Will include hot wine, bonfire treats, light writing, video projections, live painting and music !
To name a few artists already joining: Truly Design, Lichtfaktor, Faith47, Shok1, Jace, Jiar, Mr Wany, Alex Fakso,...
We're also setting up a sort of artists 'Braderie' that will be running from Friday up to Saturday.
We'll have a hanging construction with presents wrapped up in newspaper all gifts up to 5 or 10 €. Each present will have a little clue and/or ornament attached to it.We'll have pieces of a stump of a Christmas tree where you could paint on, carf in or do anything you like with it.
We'd like to invite you to come sell, show, share your work .... whatever floats your boat. All artists handle their own sales. Just tell us if you need a table, a chair, etc ... Would u like to participate in any of these projects? Need more info? Ready to rsvp?

HOW TO GET THERE:
The building is on the Veerleplein, in the heart of Ghent, just next to the old castle 'Gravensteen'. By car, take the E40 or E17 to Gent, exit 'Gent centrum'. If you don't know Gent very well it's best to follow the P-route (Parking route) directions to find a parking in the city centre. The parkings with the following numbers are all nearby: P1 Vrijdagmarkt, P9 Belfort, P7 St.-Michiels, and P8 Ramen.
Arriving by train: From St-Pieters Station: Take tram 1 or 4 to the Gravensteen, from Dampoort Station: Take the trolleybus (Line 3) to the Korenmarkt.

Le graffiti historique: Collection Speerstra (Sète/Aubérive-FR)

If you plan to go South this summer, this is a good moment to plan your route:
Father and son Willem of the Speerstra Gallery have been collecting graffiti art since the 80ies and have gathered one of the finest collections of american oldschool with works by legends like Blade, Blast, Henry Chalfant, Crash, Daze, Dondi, Futura, Keith Haring, Jonone, Noc, Quik, Rammellzee, Seen, Sharp, Zephyr.
This summer you can visit the Speerstra Collection in two expositions: one in Aubérive, just above Dijon, and the other one in Sète, between Montpellier and Narbonne in the South of France. And there's another expo in Sète with some of the worlds' best contemporary writers, “L’art modeste sous les bombes”. All info:

1. The Musée Paul Valéry will show paintings by Crash and Daze, Rammellzee, Jonone and Sharp, and a dozen original Henry Chalfant train photos from 1980-81. Vernissage on the 29 of June, expo from June 30th till September 19th 2007. Musée Paul Valéry, Rue François Desnoyer, 34200 SETE.


2. “L’art modeste sous les bombes”, Artistes In Situ. At the MIAM in Séte (Musée des arts Modestes). 3.“Le graffiti historique: Collection Speerstra” and “L’Abbaye sous les bombes”, Artistes In Situ. At Abbaye d'Aubérive. This superb private foundation will show another part of Speerstra's collection including paintings from the '80s / '90s, a set of watercolors by Crash and Daze from 1989, and the 40 Henry Chalfant "burners". June 30 till September 30 2007, Vernissage June 30th.

New Legal Graffiti Area in Gent (BE)

On May 19th, Graffiti Jeugddienst and Stad Gent opened a second legal area for graffiti: under the Keizerviaduct. (The first one being the famous Werregaren off course, check Ghentizm). 2007: An aerosol odyssey (Amsterdam)

An exhibition about contemporary art on the streets. May 31 to June 24, 2007 at The ABC Treehouse Gallery in Amsterdam: "..the Amsterdam Treehouse gallery will harvest, for a month, the current and next generation artists from the streets. In this month the Treehouse gallery will not only show the works of these artists but they will also reflect on the lifestyle of the artists and their subculture.
